Clear the Ground - God’s Prepared Warrior – Holy Week Devotional

This week is not passive—it’s a training ground for the spirit. You are not just remembering what Jesus did… you are aligning your life with it. A prepared warrior doesn’t drift—he locks in.

Today is about one thing: Clearing the ground so you can stand ready.

Matthew 21:12–13

Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. 13 He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!

When Jesus entered the temple, He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t debate. He didn’t tolerate.

He took authority. He drove out everything that didn’t belong. That wasn’t just a moment—it was a message.

If you are going to live ready… you cannot allow things in your life that weaken your position.

Too many people try to prepare while holding onto:

Compromise they haven’t dealt with
Distractions that pull them off mission
Sin they’ve allowed to settle in

But readiness and compromise cannot coexist. A prepared warrior understands this, What you tolerate will eventually control you.

Jesus cleared the temple because it was meant to be holy. And now—you are the temple.

So the question becomes, What have you allowed to stay that Jesus would drive out?

Because preparation doesn’t start with gear. It starts with authority in your life. You don’t negotiate with what’s holding you back. You remove it.

Take this seriously today. Ask God to show you one thing in your life that doesn’t belong.

Not ten things. Just one.

Then act. Remove it. Cut it off. Clear it out. No delay. No excuses.

Let's Pray

Father, search my heart and show me anything in my life that does not belong. Give me the courage to confront it and the strength to remove it. I don’t want to tolerate what weakens me. I want to walk in authority, discipline, and readiness. Cleanse my heart, clear my mind, and align my life with You. Make me a man who is watchful, focused, and set apart. Help me to stand ready by first clearing the ground. In Jesus’ name,
