“The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
In times of uncertainty and challenge, it's easy to draw inward protecting what is ours, focusing on our own survival and needs. But as God's Prepared Warriors, we are called to live differently. Our preparation is not just about food, water, and security; it’s about preparing our hearts to reflect Christ, especially in how we love others.
Jesus reminds us in Mark 12:31 that next to loving God, the greatest command is to love our neighbor as ourselves. This isn't a suggestion for when times are good—it’s a command for all seasons. Loving our neighbor means being willing to see the needs around us, even as we prepare for our own. It means sharing, serving, listening, and praying for those who may not even understand what it means to be ready physically or spiritually.
In a world growing colder, where division and fear are on the rise, the love of Christ shown through His people can be the warmth that draws others to Him. Loving your neighbor might look like checking in on an elderly person, offering a meal, sharing supplies, or simply being a source of peace and prayer. And sometimes, loving your neighbor means telling the truth in love, guiding them toward preparedness—not just for disaster, but for eternity.
Let us be known not just for our gear and grit, but for the love of Jesus that flows from our lives. True readiness includes a heart that sees others through God’s eyes and chooses to act in compassion.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us what love looks like through Your Son, Jesus. Help us to love our neighbors as You have loved us—with grace, truth, and compassion. In a world that often teaches selfishness and fear, let our hearts reflect Your generosity and peace. Teach us to see the people around us not as burdens, but as opportunities to shine Your light. Let our preparations include space for others, and may our lives lead many to know Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
