As God's Prepared Warriors, we are not promised a life without challenges, adversity, or trials. In fact, Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33, "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."
Adversity is a part of the Christian journey, but how we respond to it is what sets us apart as Warriors for the Kingdom.
In times of adversity, it is natural to feel overwhelmed or fearful. However, God calls us to be bold and courageous, even when the world seems to be against us. In Joshua 1:9 (NLT), God speaks these powerful words to Joshua as he prepares to lead Israel into the Promised Land: "This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
This is the key to being bold in the face of adversity—knowing that the Lord your God is with you. Joshua had to face overwhelming odds, towering walls, and fierce enemies, but God’s presence gave him the strength to press forward. Likewise, as God's Prepared Warriors, we too face our own walls and enemies: personal struggles, fear of the unknown, or even opposition for standing firm in our faith.
How can we be bold and courageous in these times?
Know Your Identity in Christ: Understanding that we are God's chosen and beloved children gives us the confidence to stand firm. When you know who you are in Christ, no adversity can shake you from your purpose. Romans 8:37 says, “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” You are victorious in Him!
Trust in God’s Promises: God's promises are a solid foundation that we can stand on, no matter how shaky the world around us becomes. Just as God promised Joshua that He would never leave him, that same promise is extended to us. When God says, "I am with you," He means it. Trust that His plans for you are for good and not for harm, even when the journey looks uncertain.
Focus on God, Not the Storm: In Matthew 14, when Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, he stepped out of the boat in boldness. But the moment he took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the storm, he began to sink. The lesson for us is clear—keep your eyes on God, not on the adversity. Don’t let the size of the problem distract you from the power of your God.
Pray for Boldness: Sometimes, we just need to ask. In Acts 4:29, the early church prayed, “And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.” God honors prayers for courage because He desires His people to be bold witnesses for Him. Pray and ask for the courage to face your struggles and share your faith with those around you.
Encouragement for the Warrior:
Adversity will come, but it doesn’t define your destiny. As God's Prepared Warriors, you are equipped with His power, His Word, and His Spirit. Boldness doesn’t mean you won’t feel fear, but it means that you move forward in faith regardless of it. You are called to be a light in this world, and even in the darkest of times, you can shine brightly because the Lord your God is with you.
When the world is uncertain, let your faith be unshaken. Be bold in standing for truth, be courageous in sharing the hope you have in Christ, and be prepared, knowing that God is faithful to guide you every step of the way.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your presence in every season of our lives. Help me to be bold and courageous even in times of adversity. Give me the strength to stand firm in my faith, trusting that You are with me wherever I go. Remind me that my victory is found in You, and no challenge is too great for You to overcome. Fill me with Your Spirit and guide me to live as a bold and fearless warrior for Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.
