Casting Your Cares on Him

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
As God’s Prepared Warriors, we carry many responsibilities. We think about protecting our families, storing food and water, building community, and staying alert in uncertain times. These are wise and honorable things. But if we’re honest, the weight can feel overwhelming. There are nights when sleep escapes us because the “what ifs” race through our minds: What if the economy collapses? What if violence breaks out in our streets? What if I fail my family?
Peter reminds us of a truth that cuts through the noise: God cares about you. Not just in a distant, general way—but deeply, personally, and constantly. The God who created the heavens and earth knows your name, your fears, and your needs. And He has given you an open invitation: “Give all your worries and cares to Me.”
Casting your cares isn’t about ignoring reality. It’s not pretending the storms of life don’t exist. Instead, it’s an intentional act of trust. When you prepare your home, your gear, and your plans—you also prepare your heart by handing the burden of worry over to the Lord. You’re saying, “God, I will do my part, but I trust You with the outcome.”
Think about the fishermen Peter was writing to. They knew what it meant to “cast” a net. It wasn’t a gentle release—it was throwing it out with all your strength, letting go completely. That’s how we are called to throw our cares onto God: fully releasing them, refusing to reel them back in.
Yes, we prepare. Yes, we stay alert. But our peace does not come from our stockpiles or strategies—it comes from the unshakable truth that our God is faithful and cares for us. And because He cares, we can face the storms of this world with courage, knowing we never stand alone.
Let's Pray
Father, Thank You for being the God who cares about me. I confess that I often hold onto worry, fear, and doubt, trying to handle it all on my own. Today, I choose to cast my cares onto You. Strengthen my faith to trust You in the details of life and in the storms I cannot control. Remind me daily that my hope is not in what I have stored, but in who You are—my Provider, my Protector, and my Peace. Help me to stand firm as Your Warrior, preparing wisely but resting fully in Your care. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
