“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3
When a new year begins, it’s easy to get swept up in setting resolutions and making ambitious plans. We map out our goals, envision success, and strategize how to accomplish our dreams. While planning is wise, Proverbs 16:3 reminds us that the key to lasting success is to commit our plans to the Lord.
To “commit” means to entrust something fully. It’s not about merely informing God of your intentions but surrendering them into His hands. This act of trust requires humility, acknowledging that His wisdom surpasses our own. It means seeking His will in every decision, big or small, and remaining open to His redirection if our plans don’t align with His purposes.
When we commit our plans to God, we invite Him to be the architect of our endeavors. In doing so, we shift our focus from self-reliance to God-dependence. The beauty of this surrender is that God doesn’t just take over; He shapes, establishes, and blesses our efforts in ways that glorify Him and grow us spiritually.
As God’s Prepared Warriors, our preparation isn’t just about physical readiness—it’s also about spiritual alignment. Before diving headfirst into the year’s pursuits, take time to pray over your plans. Ask God to refine your goals, guide your steps, and give you discernment to prioritize what truly matters. Remember, success in God’s eyes isn’t defined by achievements but by faithfulness to His calling.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new year and the opportunity to set goals and dream of what’s to come. Help me to commit my plans to You, trusting in Your perfect wisdom and timing. Align my heart with Your will and give me discernment as I walk the path You’ve set before me. May my plans bring glory to Your name and reflect Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
