Organizing Supplies and Clearing Spiritual Clutter

Well spring is in the air! It’s a season of renewal, fresh beginnings, and for God’s Prepared Warriors, it’s the perfect time to take inventory of both our physical preparedness and our spiritual readiness. Just as a cluttered storage space can make it hard to find what we need in an emergency, a cluttered heart can hinder our walk with God.

It’s time to declutter, reorganize, and realign—both our supplies and our souls—so we can be better prepared for what lies ahead.

The Practical Side: Organizing Your Prepper Supplies

A well-prepared warrior isn’t just someone who has supplies—it’s someone who can access those supplies quickly when needed. Here are some key steps to declutter and organize your prepping spaces:

1. Take Inventory

  • Go through your food storage, first aid kits, tools, survival tools, and survival gear.

  • Check expiration dates on food, medicine, and batteries.

    • When it comes to food remember this. "Best by" dates are primarily about quality, not safety. Most canned foods are commercially sterilized, so they can remain safe to eat even past the "best by" date if the container is intact.

    • Check for signs of spoilage:

Always inspect the can or pouch for dents, bulges, rust, or leaks before consuming food past the expiration date.

    • Taste test first:

Even if a can looks fine, it's always a good practice to open it and take a small taste to ensure the food is still palatable.

  • Discard or donate items you don’t need.

  • And always remember, stock what you will eat.

2. Rotate Your Stock

  • Practice FIFO (First In, First Out)—use older supplies first and replace them with fresh stock.

  • Move items that will expire soon to the front.

  • If you have extra supplies, consider blessing someone in need.

3. Organize by Category

  • Use clear bins, labeled shelves, and checklists to keep things accessible.

  • Group items by type: food, water, medical, tools, communications, defense, and hygiene.

  • Keep a "get home bag or a bug out bag" in case you need to evacuate quickly.

4. Get Rid of Unnecessary Clutter

  • If something is broken and cannot be repaired, let it go.

  • If you have duplicates but don’t need them, share with someone who does.

  • Make space for what truly matters.

5. Keep It Maintained

  • Schedule a monthly check-in to reassess your supplies.

  • Stay organized so you can act quickly when disaster strikes.

  • Keep maintaining your tools, your self-defense tools, etc.

The Spiritual Side: Clearing Out Spiritual Clutter

Just like a cluttered home can make it hard to function, a cluttered heart can make it hard to hear God. Spring is a great time to let go of the things that are holding us back and make room for God’s guidance and peace.

1. Let Go of Fear and Worry

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6
  • Fear is like expired food—it doesn’t nourish you.

  • Hand your fears and worries over to God and trust in His provision.

  • Stay close to God's word. Let it be a lamp unto your feet. (Psalms 119:105)

2. Declutter Your Mind and Heart

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10
  • Just as we remove expired goods from storage, remove toxic thoughts and negativity.

  • Spend time in prayer, fasting, and studying God’s Word to renew your spirit.

3. Forgive and Release Burdens

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13
  • Holding onto grudges is like storing useless, outdated gear.

  • Let go of bitterness and make room for peace and joy.

4. Make Space for God’s Purpose

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
  • Just like organizing supplies helps us be ready for emergencies, organizing our spiritual life helps us be ready for God’s calling.

  • Set aside time for worship, devotion, and service.

A Prepared Warrior is an Organized Warrior

Spring is not just about cleaning our homes—it’s about renewing our lives. By decluttering our prepping spaces, we become more efficient in emergencies. By decluttering our hearts, we become stronger in our faith.

Take this season as an opportunity to refresh your readiness—physically and spiritually. A prepared heart and an organized supply room will allow you to stand firm in any storm.

🔹 What’s your next step? Take one area—whether your pantry, your gear, or your heart—and start decluttering today!

Are you ready, Warrior? Let’s get to work!
