Guarding the Joy That Guards You

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” – Revelation 3:11

Warriors, the world is shifting. From wars and rumors of wars to natural disasters, political confusion, and daily personal struggles, the enemy would love nothing more than to wear you down—not just physically or emotionally, but spiritually.

But you have something more powerful than you realize. Something that gives you the edge. Something that fortifies your soul when the world is falling apart.

That something… is joy. Not happiness. Not comfort. But the unshakable joy of the Lord—rooted not in your circumstances but in your connection to Christ.

🔥 Why Joy Matters in Battle

We often talk about prepping our homes, our gear, our food and water—but how often do we talk about prepping our spirit?

Nehemiah 8:10 says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” In other words: joy is armor. Joy is resilience. Joy is divine fuel that keeps you from burning out when the world burns down. Without joy, fear creeps in. Without joy, bitterness takes root. Without joy, your preparation turns to paranoia.

But with joy—deep, God-given joy—you stand strong even when the storm hits your doorstep.

🛡️ What Steals Joy?

The Bible warns us:

“Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.” – Revelation 3:11

Your crown is your identity and your inheritance in Christ—and one of its jewels is joy.

Here’s how your joy can be stolen if you’re not careful:

  • Fear from the headlines

  • Negativity from others

  • Doubt in God’s promises

  • Burnout from trying to do it all without rest or prayer

  • Comparison with others who seem more "ready" or more "spiritual"

That’s why Jesus tells us to hold on—because the battle isn’t just out there. It’s also in here.

How to Keep Your Joy No Matter What

  1. Stay in the Word. Joy grows where truth is rooted. Even five minutes in the Word shifts your focus from what’s wrong to Who reigns.

  2. Pray with Gratitude. Joy is ignited when we thank God not for what we have—but for who He is. Gratitude is a powerful weapon.

  3. Guard Your Inputs. Turn off what drains you. Unplug from voices of fear. Plug into worship, Scripture, and encouraging community.

  4. Rest in God’s Sovereignty. You are not called to carry the weight of the world—just to carry the cross and follow Jesus. He’s got the rest.

You were never meant to prep from a place of panic. You were meant to stand ready with peace, fueled by the joy that only God can give.

Joy isn’t optional for warriors of God—it’s essential. So today, whatever happens in the world, whatever happens in your home—don’t let anyone steal your joy. Because when you keep your joy, you keep your strength. And when you keep your strength, you keep standing—prepared, peaceful, and unshaken.

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the joy that cannot be stolen by circumstance or shaken by fear. I confess that I’ve let the world drain me at times. But today, I choose to root myself in Your promises, Your presence, and Your peace. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation. Let it be my strength, my shield, and my song—even in the storm. Help me stand not just prepped, but full of joy, so I may encourage others and glorify You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
