Proverbs 3:13-14“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.”

Life is a series of choices. Some are small—what to eat for breakfast or what route to take to work. Others are life-changing—where to live, who to marry, how to respond to a crisis. Every decision we make carries consequences, and as God’s Prepared Warriors, we must approach each choice with intention, humility, and wisdom from above.

The world tells us to rely on instincts, emotions, or popular opinion. But Scripture reminds us that true wisdom doesn’t come from self or society—it comes from God. When Solomon wrote these words in Proverbs, he was reminding us that wisdom is more valuable than wealth, more enduring than possessions, and more satisfying than any earthly success.

The Spiritual Side of Wise Choices

When we seek God’s wisdom first, we’re not just making a smart decision—we’re aligning ourselves with His will. This means we slow down and ask:

  • What does God’s Word say about this?

  • Will this choice bring me closer to Him or pull me away?

  • Am I motivated by faith, or by fear?

Prayer becomes our filter. The Holy Spirit becomes our guide. And the peace of God becomes our confirmation that we’re on the right path.

The Practical Side for Warriors

As prepared believers, our decisions often have greater weight—whether it’s how to allocate resources, whom to trust in a crisis, or how to protect our families in uncertain times. Poor choices in these areas can create unnecessary hardship, but wise choices build resilience.

Some practical ways to strengthen decision-making:

  • Slow down – Avoid rushed decisions when possible.

  • Gather counsel – Proverbs 15:22 says, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”

  • Learn from past mistakes – Wisdom grows when we reflect and adjust.

The Warrior’s Mindset

We are called to be warriors not just in strength but in discernment. Making wise choices is part of our preparation—spiritually, mentally, and physically. When we consistently lean on God for understanding, we’ll be ready not just to survive trials, but to thrive through them, knowing our steps are ordered by the Lord.

Let's Pray

Lord, You are the source of all wisdom. Teach me to seek You first in every decision, big or small. Guard my heart from impulsiveness and lead me in Your truth. Help me to value Your wisdom above all the treasures of this world. May my choices reflect my trust in You and bring glory to Your name. Amen.

Stay Vigilant, Stay Prepared!
