“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” – Matthew 24:42
In our daily lives, we put great effort into preparing for events—whether it’s ensuring our homes are ready for winter storms, packing for a long journey, or planning for an important celebration. Preparation is a way to protect what matters most and to be ready for what lies ahead.
Yet, as God’s Prepared Warriors, there’s an even greater preparation we’re called to undertake: preparing our hearts for the return of Jesus.
Matthew 24:42 reminds us of the urgency of this readiness: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”
This verse isn’t meant to scare us but to wake us up to the reality that Christ’s return is certain, though the timing is unknown. Just as we wouldn’t face a storm without proper preparations, we must not face life without being spiritually prepared.
How can we prepare?
Stay Rooted in God’s Word: The Bible is our guide, providing wisdom, encouragement, and the roadmap for readiness.
Cultivate a Life of Prayer: Communicate with God daily, asking Him to guide your steps and strengthen your faith.
Live in Obedience: Align your actions with God’s will, demonstrating faith through your words and deeds.
Share the Good News: Part of being prepared is helping others know Christ and inviting them to join in the hope of salvation.
When we prepare our hearts for Jesus’ return, we live with purpose, clarity, and peace. Earthly storms, uncertainties, and trials lose their power over us because we’re anchored in the eternal promise of His coming.
Let’s be like the watchman who stays alert, not because we’re afraid, but because we’re eager to meet our Savior face-to-face.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us of the importance of being prepared for Christ’s return. Help us to keep watch, staying rooted in Your Word and committed to a life that honors You. Give us wisdom and urgency to share the Gospel with others, so they too can know the joy of salvation. As we face each day, let our hearts remain steadfast and expectant, trusting in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
