Serving Others

godspreparedwarrio

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28 (NLT)

In a world that often values self-interest, status, and personal success, the call of Christ stands in stark contrast. Jesus, the Son of God, who had every right to demand honor and service, chose a path of humility and sacrifice. His life was not about being served but about serving others—even to the point of giving His life for humanity. As God's Prepared Warriors, we are called to emulate this kind of servant leadership in our own lives.

When we think about preparedness, it's easy to focus solely on our personal needs: stocking up supplies, protecting our families, and securing our homes. While these are important and necessary, we must not forget that part of being prepared spiritually is being ready to serve others, especially in times of need. Serving isn’t just about grand gestures; sometimes it’s the small acts of kindness that make the biggest impact. A listening ear, a word of encouragement, or sharing resources with those in need can demonstrate Christ’s love to a world in desperate need of it.

We see the heart of Jesus in Matthew 20:28. His purpose was to serve, and in that, He found greatness. He turned the world’s definition of leadership on its head by showing that true leaders are the ones who serve others with humility and love. As His followers, we are called to do the same. Whether it's in a crisis or in our everyday lives, God has equipped us with the ability to serve those around us.

It’s important to remember that serving others also means trusting God to provide for our own needs. When we step out in faith to serve, God promises to take care of us. There is no shortage in His Kingdom, and when we give of ourselves, He always pours back into us. As we look for ways to serve, we begin to see God's hand at work not only in the lives of others but in our own as well.

Let us remain vigilant and prepared, not just for ourselves but for the purpose of being God's hands and feet to a world in need. The greatest strength of a warrior isn't just in their ability to defend but in their willingness to serve.

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father, thank You for the perfect example of service that we find in Jesus Christ. Help us to live out that example in our daily lives by humbling ourselves and seeking to serve others with love and compassion. Open our eyes to see the needs around us and give us the strength to meet them, trusting You to provide for our own needs as we serve others. Help us to be Your prepared warriors, ready not just to face the challenges of this world but to be a light in the darkness through our service. In Jesus' name, Amen.
